May 1998: Open Day invitation

To members of SOUE

Lubbock/SOUE Open Day 22nd May 1998

As last year all member of SOUE are warmly invited to the Open Day and Lubbock Lecture on Friday 22nd May. The Society's contribution will be the talk given by John Hennessy. This will be aimed, at least in part, at present students to encourage them to pursue careers in engineering. The full programme is given on the accompanying sheet.

Do stay for the buffet supper where I hope there will be present undergraduates whom you will enjoy meeting and who will enjoy meeting you.

Your committee has discussed greater use of the internet by SOUE. In an attempt to cut down on the bill for postage you are invited to say if you would accept information on the W.W.W. Hard copy would, of course, be sent to all those without access to the web. The address of the SOUE is:

http://www.eng.ox.ac.uk/soue/

Should you wish to communicate directly with our web master, Simon Turner, his email address is webmaint.soue@eng.ox.ac.uk.

I apologise for the lateness of this letter. This has been caused largely by difficulties establishing our address on the web.

The main Jenkin Lecture this year will be on 25th September and will be given by Professor John O'Connor. Details will follow.
