Open Day 2002 (Friday 24 May 2002)
The day's programme of events ran as follows:
From 2.00 p.m. displays of undergraduate project work were on view in Lecture Room 2. A competition was held for the best display (in various categories), with prizes totalling £400 in value on offer from the SOUE.
In the recently refurbished Lecture Theatre 1, there were two talks by members of the Department, describing research on structures (reflecting the theme of the main lecture), followed by tea and the Maurice Lubbock Memorial Lecture:
- Dr Martin Williams : Structural Vibrations
- Dr Chris Martin : Numerical modelling of soil/structure interaction - conflicts and compromises
- 28th Maurice Lubbock Memorial Lecture
Anthony J Fitzpatrick FREng : In Pursuit of Creative Interaction: Synergistic Design from the Sydney Opera House to the London Millennium Bridge
The day ended with a buffet supper.
