Open Day 2001 (Friday 1 June 2001)
The day's programme of events ran as follows:
From 2.00 p.m. displays of undergraduate project work were on view in the drawing office. A competition was held for the best display (in various categories), with prizes totalling £400 in value on offer from the SOUE.
In the newly refurbished Lecture Theatre 1, there were two talks by members of the Department, describing work in the areas of Chemical Engineering and Electro-optics, followed by tea and the Maurice Lubbock Memorial Lecture:
- Professor Zhanfeng Cui : Tissue Engineering - A new challenge to engineers
- Professor Peter Raynes : Displays for the 21st Century
- 27th Maurice Lubbock Memorial Lecture
John Robinson FREng : "New" Engineering - a portal for the future
The day ended with a buffet supper.
