2010 Dinner (Friday 24 September 2010)
For those who may be in Oxford on the Friday night (24 September), we are planning a small dinner at the Perch, Binsey; our Jenkin lecturer Peter Raynes and his wife Madeline will be our guests. This riverside pub at Port Meadow (which many of you will remember) can seat up to about 40 people in a private dining room, and there is plenty of room to park.
Cost will be £30 per head for a three-course meal, including coffee and tea, but not including other drinks (which can be bought at the time); there are three choices for each course (see below). We are meeting at 7.00pm; dress informal, and guests are of course very welcome.
The menu choices are as follows:
- Starters
-
Soup du jour; or
Chicken liver Parfait, toasted Brioche and Piccalilli; or
Chicory and Pickled Walnut Salad, Oxford Blue and Honey - Mains
-
The Moorish, Lamb kofta, merguez, char grilled aubergine, roasted peppers and houmous; or
Fillet of Hake, Grenebloise, Pomme Mousseline and Crispy Courgettes; or
Wild mushroom feuillete, poached free range duck egg, Reggiano Parmesan and truffle air - Desserts
-
The Perch Selection of Crême Brulées; or
Iced Banana Parfait, Valrhona Dark Chocolate Coulis, Caramenised Banana and sesame Tuile; or
Sweet chestnut mousse, Praline and Candied Chestnuts
If you wish to join us at the dinner, please make sure you return the reply slip to let us know!
Friday night accommodation
If you register for the University's Alumni Weekend, your college should be able to offer accommodation. Even if you aren't registering, it still might be worth asking. Otherwise, there are hotels, and the Alumni Weekend website can direct you to several.
