The Committee

After a revision to the Constitution in 2013, the committee consists (ideally) of the Society's five officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Membership Secretary and Treasurer) and eight other member of the Society (reduced from 11), four of whom should normally be resident in or near Oxford and four of whom should normally be resident elsewhere; additionally, the Chairman of the Faculty of Engineering Science is an ex-officio member of the committee.

The President is elected for a term of six years; the Vice-President is the Head of the Department at the time.

The Secretary, Membership Secretary and Treasurer are elected at the Society's AGM for a term of three years, and are eligible for re-election if they wish. The other members of the committee are also elected at the AGM: they serve for three years, and after serving two consecutive terms may not serve again until at least a year has elapsed. Additionally, the committee is free to co-opt any Society members it sees fit on to the committee, up to a maximum of three at any one time.

The current committee (as of September 2014) is as follows:

President: Martyn Hurst
Vice-President: Professor Lionel Tarassenko
Secretary: Paul Buckley
Membership Secretary:     Simon Turner
Treasurer: Clark Brundin
Chairman of Faculty: Dr Rene Banares-Alcantara
Local to Oxford: Adam Cary
Douglas Craig
Gordon Lord
Stephen Payne
Rod Smith
Non-local: Waseem Baloch
Sarah Jones
Ian Standen
Lynsey Thomas

Note that with the 2013 reduction of terms from six to three years, and reduction in committee membership from eleven to eight, there are currently more "local to Oxford" members of the committee than expected: this will gradually sort itself out as people reach the end of their elected terms.
