April 1999: Open Day invitation

To members of SOUE

Lubbock/SOUE Open Day 7th May 1999

As last year all members are warmly invited to the Open Day and Lubbock Lecture on Friday 7th May. The theme this year is Rolls Royce. The Lubbock Lecture will be given by Philip Ruffles (Director of Engineering and Technology) on "Advanced Power Systems". The SOUE contribution will be a short talk on "The Early Days" by our President Gordon Lewis. The full programme is given on the accompanying sheet.

Do stay for the buffet supper where I hope there will be present undergraduates whom you will enjoy meeting and who will enjoy meeting you. The earlier date has been chosen to be sufficiently far ahead of exams for students to come before the last spurt.

So far the number of members who have chosen to accept e-mail notices is disappointingly small - especially amongst those overseas. Do please agree to take e-mail if possible because it saves us a lot of postage. The Department's home page is http://www.eng.ox.ac.uk which has links to the SOUE pages.

The main Jenkin Lecture and Dinner will be on Friday 24th September. David Witt, who retires this year, has agreed to give a retrospective lecture. Please put this in your diary.
